The Witch's Guide to Cooking with Children

Sol and his sister Connie have the misfortune of moving in right next door to the same witch who captured Hansel and Gretel. No longer living in a gingerbread house in the woods, she has settled down in the middle of the small town of Grand Creek. And, although these junior sleuths quickly figure out who she is, they can't stop themselves from looking delicious or stop her from stalking all the children in town. To make matters worse, their father and his new wife keep setting up scenarios that will deliver them right into the stew pot of neighbor Fay Holaderry, gourmet chef and witch. Will Sol and Connie learn to trust themselves and work together, or will the witch next door get the best of them, (with maybe a cream sauce or dumplings as a side)?
Author Keith McGowan retells the familiar fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel in a new and different way. Similar in intent to the picture books The Frog Prince Continued and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, The Witch's Guide to Cooking with Children gives us a whole new perspective on a old story. A chapter book with interesting and somewhat creepy illustrations, this is definitely a fun read for fairy tale enthusiasts.
Also available as a book on disc.
And, if you like fairy tales, why not check out some of the original Grimm's Fairy Tales?
