Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings
Garion is a young boy who is being raised by his aunt on a farm. For him, everything is black or white, bad or good. That changes when the storyteller comes, bringing a storm of events that will rip Garion from his comfortable world and throw him into one of deception, treachery, and the unknown. He begins a quest for a mysterious item, discovering that his aunt and the storyteller are not who they seem to be, and his friend Durnik becomes his only reliable link to home. In the sea of his confusion, he must find a path in order to discover the real threat before it overtakes him.
