The Name of the Star

When her parents decide to teach American Law in the UK, Rory Deveaux follows to complete her senior year at Wexford—a boarding school located in the heart of London.  But before she can do any sightseeing, a serial killer begins to terrorize London, mimicking his brutal murders off of the notorious Jack the Ripper.
Rory and her new friends try to go about life and school as normally as possible until a body is found on campus: with Rory as the only witness to who the murderer might be.
Now she and the police are scrambling to understand how the murderer is getting in and out of securely locked buildings.  Why doesn’t he appear on video cameras, and how come Rory is the only person at Wexford who can see him?  But the closer she comes to finding any answers the closer she gets the murderer.  And in this high stakes game, will Rory be able to stop him or will she become the fifth victim?
An intricate, humorous, and well thought out mystery, Maureen Johnson’s The Name of the Star will keep readers turning pages well past any reasonable time to go to bed.
The Name of the Star is book one of the Shades of London series.  Book two The Madness Underneath has an expected release date of early 2013.
